Personal Information Goes in Your Credit History
Any credit history begins with who you are. Obvious identifying details would include your name,
address, date of birth, and Social Security number. These facts would be current information in
order to make sure the credit history belongs to the correct person.

Next would come historical information. All known previous addresses are listed. Your current and
previous employers are identified. In other words, a credit history includes as much information
about your current and past life as possible.

Pay Your Bills on Time
Most important in determining your credit rating is your payment history. So pay your bills on
time, even if you can only afford the minimum payment. Future creditors scrutinize your credit
card, mortgage and loan payment history as it appears in your credit report.

Any item in public records is also contained in your credit history. Bankruptcies and liens or
judgments will not only be listed, but remain on your record for years. One of the best habits to
form is paying bills on time. It may just prevent serious financial problems from developing that
are then reported to credit bureaus
